The Problem

Sediments are constantly deposited and removed from the beach through wave action, wave currents, tidal currents or winds. When the removal exceeds that of the supply, erosion occurs. It is a natural process that can be enhanced by human activities or slowed down through intervention. It is a major problem worldwide, affecting millions of people and causing massive property loss. The Philippines’ coastline is no exception.
